Getting Started
To help make it a magical day we recommend you book your first Wedding Hair Consultation six months before your big day. This initial visit provides an opportunity to discuss various style options which will perfectly complement your chosen dress, veil and tiara.
During this complimentary session your Chapters' Consultant will also advise on the condition of your hair and scalp and recommend any treatments to get your hair into tip top condition. Before arriving, have a think about the style you’d like us to create for you. Is there a certain hairstyle you've always dreamed of wearing or perhaps a style of veil you've had your heart set on wearing?
You'll probably want to consider:
- Should I wear my hair up or down?
- Should I let my hair grow or just use hair extensions?
- Should I have my hair curled or straightened?
- Should I have a colour or volumising treatment?
Remember - your chosen hair style and your wedding veil must work well together and for perfect results should be planned with your Chapters' Consultant at an early stage.
If you have already chosen a headpiece, make sure you bring it along together with a picture of your dress if possible. The more your Chapters' Consultant knows about the mood and feel of your wedding, the better. It will ensure she is able to create the perfect hairstyle for you on your special day.
Chapters' Tip! If you know your dream style, then why not have your stylist do your hair on the day you are planning to shop for your veil? This way you can easily decide what headpiece design and length and style of veil will work best with your hair style.
Choosing Your Style
When choosing your hair style make sure you consider the time of day and type of wedding you are having. Loose styles are appropriate for informal or daytime weddings, while up-do's are fabulous for a formal or evening look. Bear in mind that some hairstyles can add inches to a bride's height, so petite brides may want to use this to their advantage!
Chapters' Tip! Think about your wedding dress and try to match its style. The degree of formality of your dress should be matched by your hairstyle.
If the ceremony, or function itself, will be outside it may be a good idea to wear your hair up. If it happens to be windy, or even worse rainy, you'll know that you hair will still look fabulous for your wedding photographs, no matter what the weather.
Don't forget you also need to think about how you'd like your bridesmaids to wear their hair too. Do you want your hair style to look the same as them, or do you want to be different?
It's got to be you!
A common mistake is to completely lose your personal identity when it comes to making hair and fashion choices. Of course you want to look and feel special on your wedding day, but make sure you can still be recognised when you walk up that aisle! Chapters will help you choose a wedding hair style that suits your personality and makes you feel at ease.
Chapters' Tip! Whichever hairstyle you eventually choose, make sure it's one you are completely happy and confident with.
In-Salon Treatments
One month before the big day is a good time to book any special treatments or technical services. You should also start to wash your hair with a high-quality shampoo and conditioner that is especially made for your hair type. The same goes for your other hair care products - they should be of high quality and tailored to your individual requirements.
Chapters' Tip! Hair colour looks its best during the first two weeks, so have your hair coloured a week to two weeks before the wedding.
Chapters' Tip! Make sure all the hair products that you're going to use on the big day have been used by you before. Your wedding is not a good time to find out that you are allergic to some of your chosen products!
And finally...
Make sure you have booked your hair appointment with Chapters for your wedding day - either at the salon, at home or at your wedding venue.
On the big day itself try to relax and don't think about your hair too much. Your Chapters' Consultant will have done everything to ensure you have beautiful hair on your wedding day, so just have fun and enjoy the first day of your married life.
Chapters' Tip! Just in case your hairstyle needs attention, equip one of your bridesmaids with a bag of emergency hair styling products like spare pins, clips, comb and hairspray so you can fix your hair in a jiffy if you need to.
We hope this guide helps you to de-stress and prepare to enjoy every moment of the best day of you life!
Whether you are planning a gala event or a more intimate gathering of friends and family, Chapters will create the wedding hair style that's just perfect for you. We would also be delighted to care for all the hair needs of other members of your wedding party, including bridesmaids and other guests.
